Title: In Search for Big Maps
Post by: accord2 on July 09, 2017, 03:00:44 PM
Hi! I'm searching for big maps but the ones I found with random seeds were not so good. And most of the maps in the simutrans map website don't work properly because of half heights. Can someone help me? I'm looking for large maps with a sea area and a mainland one. I want to use all transportation types. I'm sorry for bugging you. Thanks you.

You may find long thin maps are particularly interesting if you want to used mixed transportation types (e.g. 2500x100 is the same area as 500x500) because you tend to be forced to cross hills, oceans, etc.  You can get a much longer map for a given amount of processing power.

Thank you! I was using square maps, but that sounds better ;)

I should like to have a better system for random generation of maps one day, but that would be a large amount of work, as that is a complex thing to do. The simutrans maps website's maps should work correctly, more or less, at least.
