I finally downloaded Simutrans and am trying to give it a go - it's not too intuitive but I'm happy to sort of slog through it especially with the starter guides lying around.
Trying to build my first train track but I can't seem to find the train depot button. Is it just me or should I be clicking somewhere else to find it? I've attached a screenie of what I can see and the little depot hut thing isn't there?

The current player is the so-called public player (you can see there is a world + tools icon left of the red cross (delete) icon). While the public player can build infrastructure, he can't run vehicles. So you will find no line management icon for instance. Switch to the human player, and then you will see the iconbars changing.
I am not sure, but I think you can switch player by using the orange-dot-with-yellow-circle icon. A new toolbar will appear in which you can select a P+ icon. That will change the current player.
