Passwords
« on: June 12, 2012, 01:03:09 PM »
So I forgot my password today and had to reset it, and while choosing a new password I got "Your password must contain a mix of upper and lower case letters, as well as digits." which makes me furious every single time.

Is there any way the administrators can change this to just require LONG passwords? Obfuscated (short) passwords are completely utterly useless (unless you want to make them easy to forget for humans) whereas long, for humans easy to remember passwords are secure. See http://xkcd.com/936/.

Thank you,

ojii

I apologize for the inconvenience, but the reason I enabled that level of security is not actually for members' security; but rather because it significantly cuts down on the amount of spam that successfully gets posted to the forum.

So it's an anti-spam measure, not an anti-you measure; but of course, if affects you, unfortunately.
