Title: Date and time readout
Post by: AvG on July 10, 2013, 08:12:17 PM
Hi guys,
After some years without Simutrans I am back again.
To become familiar with the current EXP-situation I started with Exp-Complete.

After tinkering with some settings I still have an odd date and time readout. BPM=24

Autumn 1825 October 149:05:29/204:48:00

A quick glance in an old Exp8.2 gives this readout:

Winter, 1 January 1750 11:20h

What setting should I use to get this old-fashioned (but good) read-out?

Welcome back! You might want to wait for the new release, which is imminent.

As for the date/time readout, the new system which you see is based on in-game hours: the number on the right of the / sign is the number of in game hours in a month, and that on the left is the number so far elapsed in the current month.

In game hours are used for the measurement of speed and journey times, so the new display is important if one is setting up interlocking services/quasi timetables, for example.

Thanks James,
It is clear to me now.
However, I do not like it.
What about the suggestion to use the old readout and,  if necessary,  followed by the new one in brackets.
We are talking about calendar-data and you are used to the normal format.

If you want the original time display:
Change setting under display time format in config to something between 1-4 for the original display; 8 is the game time display.

I tried all 9 settings for show_month. Seems not to work.

Also the bits_per_month (re)setting via (i) seems not to work anymore.

All of these settings will (I think) require saving after they are made and reloading before they will take effect. Have you tried this?

Thank you Carl, I think you are right.

Made a quick new game, via i reset the BPM, saved and reloading gave indeed the expected result.
