A new version of Simutrans-Experimental is available to-day: 6.6. See here for more information on how to download, install and set up the latest version. For those already familiar with the installation and setup, here are some quick links:

Version 6.6 contains some bug fixes, as well as all the latest fixes and enhancements from the latest nightly release of Simutrans-Standard (including the ability to click and drag to lay tunnels - a great usability enhancement for underground networks). A full list of changes follows.

Changes

  • CHANGE: The following costs are now scaled with the distance_per_tile setting:
          - Stops
          - Extension buildings
          - Signals
          - Buying land
          - Removing trees
          - Obsolete values relating to tunnels and electrification.
  • FIX: Incorrect formula for calculating the adjusted power of slower steam powered convoys.

Feedback and testing

Thanks to all those who have tested Simutrans-Experimental and provided useful feedback: bugs in the last version would not have been found were it not for the helpful input of testers. Any further feedback from this version would be very much appreciated, including (1) bug reports; (2) information as to how well-balanced that the game is; (3) any difference in approach/strategy needed for Simutrans-Experimental as over Simutrans-Standard; and (4) any other useful feedback.

Happy playing!

Edit: Updated to include the new (now working) [ simutrans [dot] us (site down, do not visit) ] download locations, and also the definite locations of the Linux binaries.
