You will have to search at the forum (ISF and German) to confirm some of these statements but as far as I remember:

• pak.german has moved to ST-Experimental and is maintanied by Frank, among other people.
• pak128.japan is a little bit outdated
• pakTTD was a concept test made by Frank. It doesn't really "exist", as there's no official updated release.
• pak128.USA is in the early steps of development so there's no people in charge of the project yet.
• pak.Abo was created by Stormoog but it has no support for the latest simutrans versions.
• pak.HK (formerly pak.HongKong) was an old project which I'm afraid was abandoned.

To sum up, I'm afraid most of them are just pies in the sky, without nothing concrete released.

This is not quite right.

The pak.german currently has no maintainter.

For pak.german_ex there is no clear decision. If there is a version, is mopoona maintainter.

pak128.Japan should be yoshi, although I think I remember him saying that he's too busy to do much about it for a while.

You can download which you like. The first one is the newest version released on 12/10/2010. This version should be playable with recent Simutrans versions, although some features, like rivers, are not implemented.

pak128.Japan should be yoshi, although I think I remember him saying that he's too busy to do much about it for a while.

I'm using my free time to play Simutrans, rather than maintaining the pakset at this moment.

I think that better name would be Pak128.CS due to there are many vehicles also from Slovak republic and from time when both these states were together as one state (Czechoslovakia).
