i've started working through some locomotive dats and am completely lost with the names. Can someone point me in the right direction to identify the engines.

Eg the Raven locos ben134, ben135t (usually called Bennhardt in translation) they seem on a first glance mostly to be British Rail engines. Power, weight, intro year or max speed doesn't really seem to fit anything though.

(i need to gather some additional data to do some balancing for an experimental fork)

VS

Ben was prefix used for Bennhardt's vehicles, which all had unfree graphics. Thus I used semi-random images from Raven, which were mostly cryptically named. Numbers have been tweaked at least initially by Napik and since then a million times by everyone.

So... just treat them as purely imaginary. There are many vehicles like that in the pakset, eg. Zeno's Duck train series.

thanks VS. Perhaps i shall go for optical similarities at first, then fill up the gaps with imaginary ones.
I guess the information written in Raven's png are from Raven himself, and the originally intended specs, or did you change this too?

VS

From Raven, I had just images without anything.

i've started to identify some of the locos:

a big surprise were the haru pacific and mikado seem to be locos from india.
the Raven prove to be the most difficult though.

I'm not sure if we understand each other. You seem to be thinking that the picture somehow correlates with vehicle data... I'm trying to say that it's not so. Do what you want anyway ;D

the engines i've identified seem to be quite good matches, also with the data. I looked to the data typed into the png, not the dat files. (on a first glance it seems to be the same) I'm a bit unsure with Raven's EMDs but i think there is no question EMD locos were sitting model.

I won't use too much of pak128 present vehicle data, it is to inconsistent to balance easily. I shall use wikipedia mostly. For engines i can't identify, i will take the closest visual likness and just postulate them to be something else.
