[Survey] Should the font size be expanded in Simutrans?

That is a stupid survey. The use of the freefont-Libarary is planned and works are done. Instead starting a survey is would make more sense to help finishing the not completly trivial change to the drawing procedures (as Truetype fonts need aliasing or they look horrible for Asian languages).

It is also a badly formulated question, which I can only respond "no" to. Bigger text would mean I can hardly see the map anymore. Not that I have answered, because the result has no consequence anyway. As prissi mentions, it is already decided to make it possible to customize font size. We just need to get the work done, which is the problem.

I would dare ask you guys to be kind.  Things can be confronted the same in a constructive relaxed manner.

It is a simple question about the opinion of the players.

It is not a requirement.

If they disturb simple surveys they need not be surprised if there is no more feedback.

I think the problem here is a lack of communication between development and community as to what features are planned or even partly implemented. It is very easy for someone who is not closely following development to be entirely unaware that any work has been made towards adding dynamic sized typefaces.

Aliasing for text is not trivial with the graphic engine. Although some transparency support was added recently, it is not gamma (or preferably colour space) correct as far as I can tell. Hence the aliasing detail will appear incorrectly after blending text with the display buffer.

It is generally a good idea to make a suggestion on the forum first so that it can be debated. If there is a lack of interest in the feature then surveys and such could be used to promote interest. In this case the idea has already been approved but there are minor development difficulties implementing it.

In the forum, however, very few players are registered.

And the fewest write their opinions.

Therefore, I think that the opposite way is the better. A public survey (in the Wiki can also vote unregistered, a survey for all just) to use to get a picture of whether there is any interest in anything.

And depending on the number of participants and vote then only discuss how it can be implemented.

This is often so, since not everyone can follow the English discusions.

With only three active developers the last three months, only five this year so far, and hardly much more in the last five years, one can't expect good coverage in several languages, even if prissi alone can cover a lot of ground according to his forum profile. But I'm not sure even the developers are up-to-date on what the others are doing.
