A new version of Simutrans-Experimental is available to-day: 6.1. See here for more information on how to download, install and set up the latest version. For those already familiar with the installation and setup, here are some quick links:

For those upgrading from 5.1 or earlier, see here for information about the changes in version 6.0, including some significant changes to the scale. Version 6.1 contains a number of fixes mostly relating to way constraints. A full list of changes is below:

Changes

  • CHANGE: Passengers/goods will board any convoy that takes them to their next destination if they have been waiting longer than a certain proportion of their journey time.
  • FIX: Way remover and electrification tool did not work on ways on which there were prohibitive way constraints.
  • CODE: Removed unused code.
  • FIX: Way constraint numbers were shown incorrectly in the way inspection dialogue
  • FIX: Way constraints were not properly checked for rail vehicles.
  • FIX: Way constraints were not properly shown in the depot/replace windows.
  • FIX: Inconsistent reporting of way constraints in the way details dialogue.
  • CHANGE: Tidier UI for way constraints in way dialogue.

Feedback and testing

Thank you to all those who have given feedback on the discussions of the new scaling system and have reported bugs in previous versions - as ever, it is much appreciated. A number of the bugs identified above were only identified by users of this forum identifying them.

Any further testing and feedback would be very much appreciated. In particular, bug reports, feedback on how the new scaling feature works, information on how well that Simutrans-Experimental is balanced compared to Simutrans-Standard (too easy? too hard? And, if so, why?), as well as any other general feedback or Simutrans-Experimental specific tips or strategies. In the meantime - happy playing!
