When creating convoys it looks like you always have to decide upfront on the specific goods that can be transported.
Is there anything (possibly in addons ?) that works like a container ? If packed in a container any good an be transported by the car/train. That would add the possibility to have the forward and backward run of a line be fully loaded.
Now I almost always end up with running full one way and empty the other way.
Or do you have other strategies to get better usage on convoys ?

General goods which could be transported in a container should already belong to the crates goods group. As such you are able to transport books one way, cans of food back. Specialised goods; coal, milk, cars, need particular types of waggons in real life so have their own groups to represent this in simutrans; bulk, tanker, car transport.
There are still a few goods types that can and is transported in containers in real life, but which require special vehicles in Simutrans. Mail containers need mail container waggons, and can't be loaded on other container waggons. In fact, there aren't really any containers in Simutrans, just waggons that are named and drawn to make it look that way.
