The structure might be ok, but the ASCII lines are so outdated...

I know it is not modern and really not nice. :)

If you do ASCII, then like this. BUt I would not use ASCII art personally.

I have try to use + and |. It looks not good. I havn't see structure with it.

for my note taking purposes, I use "-" and "˪" (U+02EA, Modifier Letter Yin Departing Tone Mark)

Just give paragraph numbers with a tab like:

1 Einstellungen
   1.1 Sprachauswahl

   1.6 Lade menu
   1.7 Speichern menu

Combuijs' proposal may be the best one, unless we manage to have a graphical (!= ASCII) structure...

This should look nice, but possible is it not. The help files can not have more than one spacing.

So you have all numbers in a line. This looks not so good.

Edit: ˪ is not possible. Simutrans make a ?

if it's possible to use colour, then I guess you could just keep the current format of "-" marks

I used white against this forum background, but there should be a more appropriate colour for simutrans.

The entries are grouped in several catergories, seperated by < it > sections. I would also skip any symbol for the highest order entries. Outside of the sections are:
