Alnorth Carolina - A Simutrans Universe
« on: January 21, 2014, 05:26:05 PM »
Alnorth Carolina is my latest pak128 (+ many addons) project. It is loosely named after North Carolina, USA, and I am using the city names from North Carolina as well as some of my own. It is now 1941, and the map looks similar to the 1940 one below.

I have made a video of an Express "Super Echo" traveling from Raleigh to Montpel. Since I made this video, however, things have changed, and the Standard service has taken the W & E Pinetown stops from the Express service, leaving it with only three stops. Also, the cities have grown considerably since then. Please enjoy! More vids will come soon!

Check it out! It is now 1941!

Crabtree Mall-

I have decided to commit and come up with a "formal" video series for this Simutrans world. This video shows the Valdese-Dravirton line:

This line uses JNR KiHa 80 series DMUs:

Brilliant!  I am really enjoying these update videos, they are very well done.  It is great to see the hard work of the programmers and pakset artists being used in such a wonderful way.  The roleplay potential of this game is amazing.

And thank you for introducing me to The Suburbs, I love the music :)

It's 1943...
...this video has less content because I'm mainly just managing the system as opposed to adding onto it for some time...
I intend to showcase more lines shortly.

Excellent as always, dwpvdk!

If you don't mind, some questions:
1) When you built the Olerekend Local Line, did you add some new towns around it?
2) The streets in your cities tend to be in nice grids.  You did that manually, right?
Another beautiful day!

Replies to BBGunn's questions:

1)Yes. I did add towns. The idea is that the Railway company also owns a construction company, which built the entire community to bring people in. The home prices remained competitive, and the New employee comments that he could only find an affordable apartment in Olerekend.

2)Yes. I do this manually. I have found that it keeps bus routes very easy, which is nice because I don't enjoy focusing on the many bus routes on the map as opposed to the trains or freight trucks.

Thank you for answering my questions!

Makes sense to me. :)  I love your back story, by the way - adds a nice atmosphere to the thread.  I hope that my back story is half as good once I start a screenshot thread.

2)Yes. I do this manually. I have found that it keeps bus routes very easy, which is nice because I don't enjoy focusing on the many bus routes on the map as opposed to the trains or freight trucks.
Ah, I see!  I tried doing this on my current save, and I found that it also helps create some kind of order to city streets when a city expands.  I don't mind focusing on bus routes, though; that's fun for me.
Another beautiful day!
