Simutrans 120.0.1, with pak128 2.5.2

... either by increasing and decreasing terrain height, that used to work in previous releases ...

... or by "repainting" ground with another climate (notice that you pay the bill even if nothing changed).

There was a request for the upper behaviour a while ago. It's back to how it used to be before, as the new behaviour was confusing to someone. If so, than this would only be for the "seas" that Simutrans has always had, not for "lakes" (water above sea level).

I saw this (impossibility to get rid of lake) also in pak96.comic, of course. And it is (was?) a very strange - and bothering.

Chybami se člověk učí - ale někteří lidé jsou nepoučitelní

How deep is the lake you are trying to get rid of? You may have to raise terrain, then adjust climate once it is all at ground level.

You were right. Anyway there's a loss of money since raising terrain on a lake raises the terrain one level above the lake (-> excess of terraforming), and after that, changing climate (which should not even be available for a player) is expensive.

A more intuitive behaviour could be :
_ Only tiles strictly under lake level are flooded
_ raising terrain makes the ground at level 0 (relatively to the lake), unflooded

r7395 should give a similar felling for restoring dry land than before the climate patch.

Unfourtunately you still get charged for unsucessful climate change (not unlike real life emission trading).
