Hello all,

according to Wiki http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_SignalsDef
presignals can have graphics for three states - red, yellow and green. However according to other tutorials, and my experience it shows just two states: red (or yellow according to pak graphics) and green. And green is shown only when the next signal is also in green state. So, what is the purpose of the third state?

Ters

I get the yellow state when the next block is free, but the one after that isn't.

And why are not three state signals?
So, let me get this straight. You want to fly on a magic carpet to see the King of the Potato People and plead with him for your freedom, and you're telling me you are completely sane?!

What do you mean? I count to three: red for next block not free, yellow for next block free but not the one after that, and green for next two blocks free.

Is this pak-specific? The pak-gb ones (last I checked) had two visible states only.

After talking with Lubak, what he wants is that trains slow down on the yellow state.

Please note that I'm a bit out of loop regarding signals - just translating what has been said to enable actual discussion.

My projects... Tools for messing with Simutrans graphics. Graphic archive - templates and some other stuff for painters. Development logs for most recent information on what is going on. And of course pak128!

Nothing is stopping the pak maker from using the same image for more than one state. It's also possible that one of the states didn't work at the time the pak was made, and it has never been updated with a third set of images.

Don't think of them as presignals. They are meant for something else, namely reserve two blocks as opposed to just one.
