Hallooso

Hi,

I'm pretty new to Simutrans and I just can't find an answer anywhere.
I need to bring coal to an island and I just cannot figure out how to load coal on a ship. The idea is to take the coal by truck to the port and from there to the island on a ship. I tried placing a "freight yard" right next to the port for the truck to deliver but its not working. So how do you get the truck to unload at the port?

thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the Forum!

Just make the connection, e.g.

1) Make a truck stop at the coal mine, make a truck stop at the port, make a coal truck in the depot, assign it to the route and start it.
2) Make a ship stop at the port (connected to the truck stop, e.g. place it one tile from the truck stop: there should be still one stop name after placing the port), make a ship stop at the island, make a coal ship in the depot, assign it to the route and start it.
3) If necessary make a truck stop at the island port (again connected), make a truck stop at the steel mill (or wherever the coal should go to), make a coal truck in the depot, assign it to the route and start it.

So you see, you should make the complete route before anything starts. If this does not work, there could be several reasons:

1) The coal mine does not deliver to the steel mill (steel mill is not in the list of consumers of the coal mine)
2) All stops should be enabled for goods (when looking at the stop info you must see a small goods icon near the capacity of the stop)
3) You did not connect both stops in the port
4) You used the wrong truck or the wrong ship
5) Steel mill is already full with coal

Anyway, what you want to do is standard Simutrans behaviour and should work, so you are on the right track.
