maybe add "system requirements" [in the simutrans site]:
- As low as they are initially, some larger maps do require more power.
- There may be demand for iOS or android (maybe even PSP), but we don't have much to offer for those platforms.

And:
Quote from: Simutrans FacebookWhat are the general hardware requirements for Simutrans???

A guy on Facebook asked it, but I failed to find a definitive answer. Could anyone please give a "minimum system requirements" so we can answer the guy and add it in the simutrans.com site?

My guess:
Minimum system requirements:
OS: Windows 95 or later, MacOSX Intel or PPC based or later. Not sure about Linux and BeOS.
Processor: Pentium 4 (I think a Pentium III won't handle because of the OS and its own processes)
RAM: 128mb (pak64 uses less than 50mb, pak128 uses around 500mb)

Side note: I managed to run Simutrans ,and Generally, in a 2001 notebook, it's so powerful that it can only run Win98.

Minimum requirements is certainly below Pentium 4, because the nightlies were accidentally made with Pentium 4 as target platform, and then some started complaining that it no longer worked for them.

I won't dare guessing exact requirements, but a rule of thumb might be that if you can surf the web today in most of its "glory", your computer is can run Simutrans. It's just a matter of map size and complexity.

System requirement: Ters got is right, I think.

RAM 256 MB or more, an intel processor with at least 800 MHz (my 600 MHz eeePC is struggling), ARM probably in the 600 MHz and up range. Not much beyond a medium smartphone actually.

for large maps with around 8000 convoys, intel pentium G860 or amd phenom and 3GB of ram or more.

No 8000 convois runs fine on a Athlon XP 6000, which I own ... If you push the game, it really depends on what kind of system you have as whole, and on screensize/zoomlevel.

900 MHz does it on 800x480 pixels, but already suck at 1024x768 ... Athlon XP is fine on 1280x1024, but I am not sure on much larger screens or FPS higher than 25.

ah, okay, so there ought to be something about screen resolution affecting performance in there.

Where did those player system statistics go?

Since it's minimum system requirements, we need to think about which resolution one needs in order to play the game properly. This probably depends on which pak set is smallest and fully playable. Secondly, how small can a map be and still give mostly full gaming experience. From that one can figure out the hardware requirements.

Unfortunately, hardware requirements doesn't always translate as expected from platform to platform. My, now old, Linux box was initially rather sluggish at running Simutrans, although my comparable Windows machine ran it fine. But the last time I tried, Simutrans ran fine on that Linux box, without any hardware changes.
