Game doesn't read simuconfig.tab?

It appears Simutrans won't read my simuconfig.tab file at all. It just seems to read the pak128 config. It's annoying, as I'm configuring things that won't work.

It's simuconf, not simuconfig. Could that be the problem? (I think not, but...)

Anyway, the files with this name are read from a total of 4 locations, so you want to modify the ones read later. That would be these in your user folder.

My projects... Tools for messing with Simutrans graphics. Graphic archive - templates and some other stuff for painters. Development logs for most recent information on what is going on. And of course pak128!

Also for running game many settings cannot be changed.

I think the problem here is that he's editing the simuconf from config folder, but the changes are not taking effect.

This is the standard behavior, all configs in the simuconf from pak folders replace the ones in simutrans/config folder.

I don't think you understand. I changed the fullscreen settings in simutrans\config\simuconf.tab and nothing changed whatsoever.

First: please tell us version of your simutrans, pakset, and operating system. It does not feel relevant, but... who knows.

Thoughts:
1) this simuconf has lowest priority
2) fullscreen should not be touched by any of the simuconf files, if left unmodified
3) this particular option can be overridden by command line parameters
4) this particular option is independent on game being played

1+2 = did you perhaps change fullscreen in other simuconf as well?
3 = do you know what are the starting parameters?
4 = new / loaded game should not matter

Anyway, could you try attaching that file here? It would probably eliminate lots of guessing. Actually, if you attached this one, the one from pakset you load, and the one in your user folder (if present / known to you), it would be great :)

Are you telling me I can't play in fullscreen ever?

EDIT: OK, so I created a shortcut and used the -res 1440x900 switch, but it went into 640x480 mode. Is there something I'm missing?

You haven't told us which Simutrans you are using (not only is version important, but also SDL/GDI/?) and which operating system. It might even be that your system is to "modern" to run "archaic" games like Simutrans in full screen.

Just tried a shortcut with (SDL) Nightly r6519 and these parameters:
-fullscreen -screensize 1920x1080
and it works fine.

res want a number from 1 to 5. For fullscreen try "-fullscreen" on the command line. This will also fail on Haiku and possibly on the MAC. Some newer windows driver have no good support for 16 bit color modes anymore and may fail as well.
