I have a cattle farm, that I want to supply power too.

It has the red power icon in it's info dialog so it can take power.

To add power to it I need to put a transformer next to it, however every time I try to place a transformer I get the following message:

"Transformers must be on flat empty ground adjacent to a factory"

Ok... so I understand that, and I look, and it's because my Farm has fields of cattle around it... ok, again no problem, lets just clear one with a buldozer and problem solved right?

Wrong...

All I get is:

"Not enough fields would remain around this farm"

There are no adjacent empty spaces that I can place the transformer in, and I can't clear any so how on earth do I provide a transformer to my farm, so that I can power it, and thus increase it's output...

For ref... this is using

Pak128 britain.

Simutrans 111.2.2 - r5583

This is driving me nuts... any ideas anyone?

Oh?

Never knew that... not seen it listed anywhere...

Any instructions on that at all?

Cheers

ctrl+U to go into sliced underground mode. Brackets () to go up or down a level
open special construction tools.
click on build transformer tool. This should highlight factories with red.
Build transformer on a red highlighted tile.
build or dig a slope to start a tunnel.
ctrl + click with powerline tunnel tool on a slope to start one side of a tunnel.
still using powerline tunnel, build from entrance of tunnel to underground transformer.

I think powerline tunnels are available later on in the game, so if it does not show up in your special construction tools list, then you will have to wait until later on in the game.

Hmm, ctrl+u gives me sliced mode, and I can move up and down using ( and ) but I don't seem to be able to build anything.

First time I've used the underground tools...

do you have the latest version of the pakset?
powerline tunnels should be available from pak128.britain 1.13 and onwards

Using a newer build of simutrans might be necessary. Currently it is 112.3

Yup, updated it since I started this discussion.

I've tried a few new scenarios too, and just not been able to get this underground thing working.

Am just about to have another try using the experimental version....

spannerjam

Ok, so after seeing an option in the settings for the experimental version called "Allow underground Transformers" I wen't back and looked at my regular copy and said option was turned off...

I have now turned it on, let's see what happens :-)

QuoteBrackets () to go up or down a level
Having latest nightly (windows with SDL), doesn't work for me :'(

For me, it's plus and minus to change levels, but this is pak set dependent (as well as player customizable).
