[0.9.0] List of under powered road vehicles

In the past there was talk about under powered road vehicles, but no definitive list, so they will be listed here.

Short on power
Scammel Handyman (at least 50% boost)
Leyland G (at least 30% boost)
Leyland Roadrunner (at least 40% boost)
Leyland T45 (at least 90% boost)
Leyland DAF 85 (at least 50% boost)
Scammel Routeman (at least 30% boost)
T45 constructor (at least 90% boost)
DAF LF (at least 40% boost)
Leyland DAF 65 (at least 90% boost)
DAF 85 Rigid (at least 90% boost)
DAF CF Rigid (at least 90% boost)


All lorries can use twice the kN

Thank you very much - that is very helpful. You write that they could use twice the kN - does that mean that you suggest increasing both the power and the tractive effort?

yes. Since trucks use tyres, their tractive effort per driving axle can far exceed what is possible on rail. The main limitation is how much power and torque can be fed into the mechanical gearbox before it explodes.


Based on my research....
Modern trucks, at least from the 80's, would have somewhere around 250hp to 650hp with turbo chargers.
Slightly older trucks, say between 50's and 80's would have had anywhere around 100hp to 400hp.
