This is not a new error, and may even be present in standard as well, but I am reporting against Experimental 11.10 since that is what I am currently using.

If a new stop is created that is

  • inside the boundaries of a large town but
  • nearer the notional centre of an adjoining small town than the centre of the large one, while still being
  • outside the boundaries of the small town,
it should get a urban name associated with the large town (e.g. 'Grandville Hope Street'), but instead gets a rural name associated with the small one (e.g. 'Littleton Junction').

Best wishes,
Matthew

I have moved this to the Standard board, as I am fairly sure that this is not unique to Experimental. Indeed, I am not even sure that this is strictly a bug - if the stop is inside the smaller town (judged by that tile being designated as being in the smaller town), what you describe is the correct behaviour.

There is much to say for allowing one town to be agglomerated into another, but that is a project for another day.

If the stop is actually inside the smaller town, then it gets an urban name for the smaller town, and this is clearly the correct and desired behaviour.  The problem is, as I said, when it is 'nearer' (as measured from centres) to but still outside the boundaries of  the smaller town.

Best wishes,
Matthew
