new trailers and paintings for pak128

Hello everyone. recently did some trailers for trucks to pak128.
first. containers of actual companies 20 ft and 40 ft.


Second: transport trailers chemicals (fuel)

There is still edit and fix some bugs, but I will soon make available the link to download  :)

The two first images are nice. I still have two suggestions:
_ Take into account that Sun brights from the south, so the southern sides of your trailers should be brighter than the eastern sides.
_ Letters written on the sides could be smoothened, here it appears pixelated (in general, you should try to do some kind of anti-aliasing).

The two other pictures don't look very nice. If you made them after a real example, could you put here some pictures of them ? Anyway, the biggest problem in these is the contrast between live colors (super red like #FF0000, super blue like #0000FF, and so on ...) and complete white (#FFFFFF). One should never use extreme colors like these, except reproducing specular lights (reflects of the sun on a shiny surface for instance).

Anyway, your graphics are promising  :D

Thank you for advice and for the compliments! I have great difficulty selecting colors with the right brightness.
The images of trailers of chemicals, these trailers are a chemicals company that is here in my city. I have no photos of these trailers, but searched the internet and found something similar.

Wonderful!

Sometimes it is hard to know exactly what colour something should be.  What I tend to do is bring a picture of the real item in to my paint program and pull the colour to see what it actually is.  While the first picture's container is certainly white in the picture, if you pull it in to your paint program it will come in as grey, nearly balanced between R G and B, at around 70-75% intensity.  The blue is around 60% intensity.

In the second picture of the truck and trailer, the white tanker is oversaturated in the picture and comes out almost pure white.

Adding the shading to the east side will help a lot... and the south should also be slightly less bright than the top part.

Was playing around with a container in Blender and a Maersk graphic.  Feel free to grab the colour scheme and Maersk logo (or the whole thing if you like):



It is interesting to look at a zoomed in version of this to see how the pixels are assembled.  (if the image in your browser is a bit blurred with extra anti-aliasing, download the image and view in your picture editor)

Indeed choosing colors is hard. I had to completely remake some vehicles because of a bad color choice :p
You can try using player color instead of your blue/red/...

Another way of choosing well a color before drawing your graphics is to try them directly on a screenshot from the game, so you immediately see if the color will look good in game or not.

Anyway, as general advise, refrain from using extreme colors. Even if a color looks bright in a real context, it's not as bright as your brain considers it (I don't know if my explanation is very clear ... hard to find the good words :/ ), so you have to "soften" them in your graphics.

@Sarlock: on Sheldon's image, writings look pixelated. In yours, it looks ... fuzzy :p

I use a website on the internet called "Model paint database". Load a picture from you desktop or directly from the web (rightclick on a picture, copy picture webadress), click somewhere in the picture and then the HEX value of that pixel, or those pixels, will appear. Copy/Paste the value into GIMP or whatever paintprogram and voila! I use it frequently and has become musthave tool for me.

I changed the image somewhat.



The original render had the Maersk logo waffled along the ribbed container siding, which, while accurate, does give a distorted effect.  You see this same distorted effect on a real container when looking from the same angle.



I placed a flat logo plane on the side so that the logo read more clearly.

Of course :)  Looking at the pixel pattern from the render may give some ideas on how to construct the letters.  It's really hard to make small font letters at an angle.

I am having difficulty changing the brightness with the trailer, it seems that it is more difficult to do it with vehicles. But I will continue with attempts.

Yes, it's a lot of work to do the lyrics, I had to see on several pictures the angle he needed.

Anyone know how to do a double trailer trucks? I have done the png, but do not know how the DAT.

In the game, two trailers is not selected, only one.

Simply follow this pattern:

Vehicle1.dat:
Constraint[Prev][0] = none
Constraint[Next][0] = vehicle2

Vehicle2.dat:
Constraint[Prev][0] = vehicle1
Constraint[Next][0] = vehicle2
Constraint[Next][1] = none

vehicle3.dat:
Constraint[Prev][0] = vehicle2
Constraint[Next][0] = none

General help about constraints.

They are very nice although I have a couple of remarks to make  :)

1) TNT and DHL semis look like they are not shaded, their eastern side is almost as bright as southern and upper sides, though trailers have right colors.

2) Have you tried smoothening lines ? It can give nicer results, especially with UPS'yellow line or DHL's red line. Anyway, it's already really nice and letting lines pixelized is an art style in itself, highlighting the pixel-art job behind the graphics  ;D

Thank you so much for creating trucks for pak128. When I saw your DHL trucks, I thought it would be great to load your DHL, UPS and TNT trucks on a rail-car.

For realism reasons, only the trailers should be loaded, however, I don't care about realism so I'd try to load the whole truck or only the trailer on the rail-car and the the one that looks better.

Would you like to create such a rail car or provide the images of your mail trucks so I can create such a car?
I'd also create a player-color version of it.

Not all of them, only the yellow one - which was then obviously used as a model for the other two trailers. Look like he only put his signature under my work.
Here you can see the original yellow trailer made by me 7 years ago.
It does not matter that much to me, it is just an unspoken rule to leave also the signature of the original author.

I tried to make the most similar, but the colors were not compatible with the 128 pixel zoom, so I modified the paint, for a stronger color.

Hallo habe jetzt mit vielen Pack 128 deine LKW und Trailer oder Anhänger getestet, bei keinem meiner mittlerweile 6 Pak 128 funktionieren deine Teile etwas. Deshalb Frage ich mich mit welcher Version Arbeitest du ???
Ich Pak 128 german V 0.10.4 Rev 8504 oder die anderen letzten simutrans Versionen ! 128.2 von Dez.17

Pak128German und Pak128 sind zwei komplett verschiedene Paksets. Pak128 kanns du hier downloaden: https://sourceforge.net/projects/simutrans/files/pak128/

Sheldon hat in seinem Profil nur Englisch und Portugiesisch angegeben, bringt also nicht viel, ihn auf Deutsch anzuschreiben. Wenn du selber kein Englisch kannst, versuchs zumindest mit dem Google Übersetzer oder ähnlichem, denn nur Fremdsprache ohne zumindest rudimentärer englischen Übersetzung entspricht nicht den hiesigen Forenregeln.

Lauscher was confused why the addons don't work with any of his pakset versions, but he uses pak128.German instead of pak128.
I told him they are different paksets, and that he should use english (Google Translator if there is no other way), especially if talking to someone who probably does not even speak German.

Und irgendwas ist durcheinandergewürfelt: Pak128.german in Version 0.10.4 ist Revision 2135. Rev. 8504 muss die einer ST-Version sein, genauer der 120.3. Und dort wird vermutlich auch der Hund begraben sein: Die von sheldon verwendete makeobj-Version wird zu neu für ein älteres ST sein?

Sry, kann leider nicht testen, Dropbox darf bei mir nicht.

Maybe the used makeobj-version is newer than the ST-version from Lauscher?

Hello, I use Simutrans pak128 120.4.1. all the files I created were tested only for pak128 in that version. I can not answer that these trailer and trucks should open for pak128 German, or Pak128 Japan, because I did not do tests related to these pak.
However, it should open to other pak, as I use the recent default makeobj in my creation.
try to download the latest nightly extension, maybe it might help. I'm going to do some tests here for pak128 ermam, any news, I'll let you know.

a question for the forum people wiser than me, I use the default makeobj to make the files, if I want to make files for pak128 german or japan, should I use another makeobj ?? Or should I just, at creation time, write in the CMD of the default makeobj '' makeobj pak128 germam '' ??

Neither. The paks you create should work in each pakset, even those of different size (with the expected graphical nightmare). If anything, you could use a makeobj newer than the Simutrans version a player uses, and that could cause incompatibility, especially if you were to use parameters that did not exist in that Simutrans version. (eg. animated pax before they were introduced)
The actual issue would probably be the goods, if they don't exist with the same name in pak128.german, your vehicles would stop the pakset from loading correctly, no matter which version is in use.

Exact! I had forgotten that detail.
With that, the trailers and truck that I created, will only work for pak128, with exeções for some pak that accept the products edited in English. Correct Leartin ?? :)

All these add-ons were made for the game and shared, all the add-ons I've done share. The only problem is that I do only for pak128, and I do not have time to do for other paks, like pak128 German or pak128 Japan. I believe you play with pak128 German, my tip, is that you add pak128 products, the called '' good.pak '' in your pak folder, and businesses.
Game with Simutrans pak128 120.4.1, I have files in my pak folder, which are German, however, to open it in my game, I did what I said above.

Unfortunately, it is more difficult to make files, because I went back to work, and I am missing time, but as soon as I do something else, I will post here in the forum. Thank you for your understanding. :)
