Usually one has to move goods a considerable distance from a supplier factory to a consumer factory. However there rarely is the case that both supplier and consumer are in close proximity of each other. In such a case there should be no need to transport anything as the local pickup/drop off service of the stop itself can do all the moving, although with no delivery fee.

Currently this is not working. On the server game @126,3285 there is a Market. This Market is literally right next to the Orchard it needs Fruit from. Both are serviced by the same stop. No Fruit is being moved from the Orchard to the Market.

One more realistic approach would be that factories are automatically connected together if within a certain distance of each other. This way that Market and Orchard would just work without a company needing to build a stop. The logic behind this is that since they are next door to each other they would move the goods themselves.

That would be very helpful indeed.

On an earlier map I had a steelworks right next to the car factory, never managed to get steel to the car factory. :)

But what happens if you have a stop that has only the steelworks in its radius?

It is pretty obvious that it will work if you make 2 stops each having a separate factory in it and then a small convoy to move the goods a few tiles between stops. Still a single stop covering both but not moving the goods is a bug.

I agree.

Obviously goods "moving themselves" should not generate profit or use storage at stops, however.
