I found that the nightly simutrans is now 120.4.
I saw the history for simversion.h and I think the version number should be 120.3.1 not 120.4.
Is there any reason for this change?

DrSuperGood

Small version numbers should only be used for emergency bug fixes such as the typical "ops it does not work at all" sort of bug. If anything else major has changed or been added then at least a middle version number should be incremented, even if it has only been a few days. Major version numbers should only really be incremented after extended periods of changes without a release, or if major new features were added.

Nobody knew there would be a 120.3.1 at the time 120.3 was released, and Simutrans development isn't set up to do both development on the next version and bug fixes on the previous in parallell. Hence 120.4 was set as the presumed next version number, because the intention was to start on new (big) features.

However, with the bugs fixed in the meantime (especially around local server and IP6), a bugfix release soon might be in order ...

Internally, all that counts is the save game version anyway.

Thank you for answering my question.
In privious "back to nightly" commit, only small version number is changed.
Middle or major number is changed only at the time the new version is released.
So, I wondered there're some changes in polisy or something.
