Hi everybody

Playing Simutrans online a lot, I experience many sudden disconnects, which are not all explainable by connection problems (bad internet).

I therefore startet protocolling each disconnect (DC) over a two week span, and would now like to share the collected data here. Of course I hope this could be helpful to the developers, in order to identify the causes of inadvertent disconnections.

The data mainly consists of extracts from the simu.log-file, containing the latest lines before disconnection.
Also I created a spreadsheet where-in I noted date and time and later on added in-game date and (even later) my current activity at connection loss and my thought on it's cause.

See a screenshot of the table:

A zip-file of the 60 extracts, the spreadsheet and two log-files of the corresponding successful start sequence (pak version 2.2 r500 and 2.4beta r533),
is online for download until 23th oh July this year.

I'm sure, I'm not the only one having trouble with DCs, since co-players of this map suffered the same trouble.
  • So please share your experiences too. Or do you rarely ever have any DCs?
  • @developers: please tell me, if this data collection can be of any use to you, or what information would be of better use to you.

Do you have pedestrians enabled? They are not synchronized between server and client (presumably for performance reasons). If they are enabled, try disabling them.

I did not know that, thank you. But they aren't turned on, neither on my system nor on the server.
For instance, the map does not even have forests, just for performance optimization.

The map running on the server was created by me and first ran on Cruzer's hosting service and later on, on a friend's home server, if this info may be of help.

pak128.german has multitile buildings. I recently noticed many issues with that, like not all tiles were removed etc. Maybe this is the issue.
