It is 2020 and yet, as trains go faster and faster, freight trains remain extremely slow - a mere 120 km/h for most goods, 140 km/h for the lucky ones. To address this issue and revitalize the freight train economy (hem), the Federation of Cargo Companies (FCC) has asked its best engineers to create new, faster, safer (?) freight rolling stock. The result is the FCC Standard, a modern high-speed freight train for the 21st century.

The FCC Standard is a set of engines and wagons which max speed ranges between 160 and 180 km/h. Engines exist in several flavors (front, back, middle and even short-middle) and there are cars for most goods. Engines and cars are designed to work together, but can be used along with other vehicles.

This addon is supposed to integrate well with pak64 from 2015 onwards, and has been tested. It was made to address the lack of high-speed freight vehicles in late pak64, to be possibly integrated in the pakset.

Note: the engines are now fuel-cell-powered and come in 2032.

Tip: for best profitability, paper should be transported at 120 km/h rather than 160 km/h.

New Siemens Vectron locomotive! Includes the base version (200 km/h, from 2010 onwards) and the faster version (230 km/h, from 2022 onwards).

Why is the plan sideview so short? Double traction would have a large gap between them.

Hopefully fixed. New png and pak files in the Vectron post.

We now have the Eurosprinter (aka "Taurus"), in the chronology it fits between the Br103 /  NS-rail P-1600 and the Vectron.

We also have a TGV La Poste. It is intended as a postal companion to the ICE TD and (to a lesser extent) the X2000. It is available from late 1996 to 2026. (The real TGV La Poste were retired in 2015, but in pak64 timeline they are useful until 2024, when the Tigress II comes. The Pantheress and Tigress I have terrible performance so the TGV La Poste remains until the Tigress II.)

The graphics are inspired by those of pak128's TGV PSE "Spike", esp. for the color placement.

A regular, passengers TGV is in the works, but it is less needed in pak64 (there already is the ICE TD).

I also added translation files in English to all vehicles. They should be placed under <simutrans>/addons/pak/text/.

As a first small addition, next to the awesome rail-rollingstock from the prosper present and near future, I humbly present the first of two mail trucks, to complement the existing ones.

NYU Mail Cap-peek.png

The NYU Mail Cap is laid-out as a small local-post vehicle and is thought to fill in the gap, which the retirement of the reliable SimCo Postal Truck leaves.
It will be available from 1978 onwards, until getting replaced in the 2020's by the second newcomer, which is in the works now.

Thank you Nazalassa for your remark and the compiling work. I updatet the the pak-file.

So. Already five years overdue, eh? ;-)

Looks great!

New regional train: French "AGC" ("Autorail grande capacité", lit. High-capacity railcar), from 2004 onwards, designed as a potential successor for the Br614. comes with a postal car that, while not having a real-life counterpart, is quite useful to cary mail on small regional lines, without needing to add an over-sized mail train.

This is the electric version; there also exists IRL a diesel version.

There is the is the semi-trailer post truck though as well.

FLN

Yes. I'm aware of the semi-trailer and of the 'EAGLE HVP Mail Truck' of course.
But we, Nazalassa and me, consider them a bit unfit for local delivery (last mile), considering their running cost and the fact that they hardly are profitable in town-service (<50km/h).
So that's the gap the new mail cap is thought to fill.

Have you an different suggestion how to address this?
I gladly can modify the 'NYU Mail Cap' to make it better fit the overall pak 64 ecosystem.

Isaac Eiland-Hall

Well, in Simutrans, the post arrives when it arrives, not e.g. daily. So a large vehicle just means post less often and Simutransians just deal with it. :)

prissi

Now, I think your addition is great. Your wording had confused me, sorry.

Also, comparison with the SimCo mail truck, in terms of revenue per post per 100 tiles at 50 km/h when full:

In 1950 (reference speed 59):
  SimCo Postal Truck: 9.9333¢

In 1978 (reference speed 71):
  SimCo Postal Truck: 6.0833¢
  NYU Postal Truck: 6.3542¢

In 2000 (reference speed 81):
  SimCo Postal Truck: 3.6083¢
  NYU Postal Truck: 3.8792¢
