Hey railwaymen,

a few years ago I spent - a year ago at least really - starting from the Germany scenario that was provided in the Germany pak (that rly was only a bit of bavaria & swabia) to make a complete Germany including big chunks of Switzerland.

In the end I changed pretty much every single tile, carved the valles multiple times over, added rivers, cities, and so on

Now I hope some people will appreciate the work and that we can maybe even make a scenario out of it. Cause right now its a save file - it was just easier to copy it over from my different PCs like that.

Screenshots

So i share my save files, starting after ww2, and a few screenshots to get your appetite

Edit: @Mods. Dunno why you say that side is full of viruses but fine i upload it to my yandex disk. Or whatever small mostly adless upload side you let me know

Can you clarify where you saw whatever notification that spurred you to make this note? I'm not the only one that messes with the forum config, and it's been a number of years since the forum was set up, so I may not be remembering whatever it is that you saw, but I'm curious for more info so I can track it down if it's something on our end. :)

But also: For screenshots, imgur.com is often a good choice. There is https://files.simutrans-germany.com/ which I believe is still accessible. I can give you an account on https://simutrans.cloud/ which is running Nextcloud. but generally whatever filehost you choose is probably okay if it's not too spammy. But it sounds like you hit some sort of automated thing that I'm not recalling us having anything like it set up...

I used file<minüs>upload<dot>net but changed it to my cloud storage by now, so no trouble

For the pics I chose imgur from the start, never had a problem with that one :)

But I'm asking where "we" said it was full of viruses, as I'm not aware of anything on the forum that should say that. :)

This map is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing!

pl4ttenbau

thanks man! Im so glad to hear! I rly spent parts of my life on this, especially like 2 years ago! And was a bit worried that this would end up totally unused

Feel absolutely free to come with ideas what to smoothen out, where to put or get rid of industries or just some screenshots

Flemmbrav

I don't know how to create a proper scenario, so I can't help with that.
But I would love to play the map as a network game next time we start one.

No, Im plattenbau and dont know who that dude is. maybe its an ai that reprases other posts like mine?

I did have trouble uploading it on file upload net, which i usually use for such matters as it was blacklisted or similar. Or Esperan is a real user and actually faced similar hurdles.

> from finding accurate information to troubleshooting technical glitches in the software

is not really all that true, there was one problem tho - connected with generating maps from height maps i think - that i couldnt solve and only updating my simutrans version was helping. I think it was solved since then tho

So or so, ill update a new version of the map soon with some areas geeting more love. Apropos technical questions: is it possible to go back in years somehow, say by editing the file with a hex editor?

i have no problem editing old houses and industries out after say getting the map into the 20ies. But redoing it completely for an earlier start date would be excessive, although i regret my choice of the late 50ies now.

Yes
It is possible to save as uncompressed XML

simuconf.tab
Quote#################################system stuff#################################

# compress savegames?
# "binary" means uncompressed, "zipped" means compressed
# "bzip2" uses another compression algorithm
# other options are "xml", "xml_zipped" and "xml_bzip2"
# xml detects more errors of broken savegames but files are much larger
# bzip2 savegames are smaller than zipped but saving/loading takes longer
saveformat = xml
Then use a simple editor, find and change the value and load the file back in Simutrans.

The year is one of the first value.

But beware: The file is really big. Maybe to much for notepad.
