2026-05-19 Server Slow [fixed]

So I've noticed a gradual slowdown of pages loading over the course of perhaps months. Not a huge thing, in fact, I wasn't quite sure it was happening.

Tonight, though, pages were loading slowly. Very slowly. Timing out. Got a couple of "site down" emails for stuff on the server.

Long story short, it seems we have accumulated 850MB of attachments in the SMF attachments folder that was slowing things down. Long story short, I have fixed the issue. The entire server appears to be running faster overall as the php processes are not getting bogged down in that folder.

So hopefully this performance increase sticks.

It irritates me that I hadn't really investigated the server's very gradual process of getting slower, but it was partly that I wasn't totally sure it WAS getting slower. I thought the server SHOULD be faster, but... that can be somewhat subjective. heh.

However, per Roberon's request, I have introduced code that will delay page loading for 15 seconds.......
