Cant build powerlines longer than 40 tiles

Playing with Simutrans124.4.1 - r 11930 I can't build powerlines longer than 40 tiles. Building seperate parts of 39 tiles or less works, however I can't build any longer stretches of powerline.

Image 1: I clicked somewhere on the map to start building
Image 2: It then dragged it 39 tiles or so away, that works fine
Image 3: I clicked somewhere on the map to start building, then dragged it 41 tiles away. Then the to be build powerline just dissappears the same way it would if it's impossible to build somewhere
Image 4:  I clicked somewhere on the map to start building, then clicked somewhere  more than 40 tiles away. I then get the message that a building blocks the construction.

(I see the image aren't posted in order, but the filenames match my descriptions)

For this test I started simutrans without any addon packs, only pack64.

This seems to affect only newly created maps.

pak64.german start map works.
