[New release] Simutrans-Experimental 4.5
« on: July 04, 2009, 01:00:43 PM »
A new release of Simutrans-Experimental is available to-day, version 4.5: see here for more information on how to get the new version. The new Windows binary can be downloaded here. The new Linux binary is expected to be available from the morning of the 5th of July onwards: see here for the download page. This version comes with new configuration files (including a new Swedish translation - thanks to Sanna), which can be downloaded here.

This version contains all the latest updates from Simutrans-Standard (including numerous fixes to the new underground slopes tool), plus a number of changes specific to Simutrans-Experimental, listed below:

Changes

  • CHANGE: Different message when a new vehicle is available only as an upgrade to existing vehicles
  • FIX: Bizarre numbers shown in the tooltip for the maximum speed for way objects
  • FIX: Certain simuconf.tab settings (cornering settings and instant path refresh) did not work if they were in the base simuconf.tab, rather than the pakset simuconf.tab
  • FIX: Could "copy convoy" beyond credit limit.
  • FIX: Interest not accounted for properly.
  • CHANGE: Updated credits.
  • CHANGE: Reduced slightly effect of poorer acceleration for steam locomotives.
  • CHANGE: New colours in the in convoy info frame: Show some coloured texts and indicator. (Bernd Gabriel)
  • CODE: A little bit of structure and less redundant coordinate calculations. (Bernd Gabriel)
  • CHANGE: Consistently adding ':' to the captions in code. (Bernd Gabriel)

Feedback and testing

Thanks to all those who have reported bugs in the previous version - it is very helpful. Many of the issues resolved above were only identified because people posted bug reports here. Any feedback on Simutrans-Experimental is most welcome, particularly (but not only) bug reports, information on performance with different hardware, feedback on gameplay balance and information as to how the new features of Simutrans-Experimental affect strategy and gameplay. Thanks to all those who have tested Simutrans-Experimental so far - happy playing!
