Give it a logo for Simutrans Experimental?

The search here found nothing.

If somebody's willing to draw one, perhaps... :-)

I have tried to make some logos. What do you think?

My two cents. The sense it's pretty obvious (experimental >> experiment >> science >> test tube) but imho It represents quite well the goal of the project (experimenting with Simutrans as if you were in a Lab)

P.S: Do not use it, it's just a preview mixing free of copyright images.

Vilvoh, you beat me. Annoying work I had to attend! Just got home, made a logo in Paint (yes, paint), for SimExp. Hope you guys like it.

edit: Thanks for removing the darn-related words. Added the forgotten 2nd version of my home-made logo.

Well, at least we get to a similar idea... ;D

I like the first one. It's active, brewing, like STE :)

I got something more transport related. Not a real Logo it's more a sketch of the idea.

Edit: or how about one of these early experimental flying devices.

sojo

I like vilvohs logo.

Do we want to use this in the future?

I like it too - but read what he said - it cannot be used in that state - the art is not usable.

However, that doesn't mean that similar art couldn't be found, perhaps. :)

Fabio

I also like vilvoh's, because it keeps STE in ST family ;)

vilvoh

The reason why I said it cannot be used is, apart from the fact that the elements of that logo have different styles and imho there should be some homogeneity, because the test tube is a GPL Icon image from iconfinder.net. We can use it as a template, but imho all elements from the logo should have the same look & feel. I just made it basically as a conceptal sketch..

[..] because it keeps STE in ST family ;)

Well, after all STE is based on ST source, isn't it?  :)

Vilvoh, I like the style as it is. I think this is experimental and this looks very well.

Who will paint it new?  :)

exactly! this is why the logos should be similar :)
STE based on ST source
STE logo based on ST logo
;D

Thank you all very much for your suggestions. However, a logo that emphasises the "experimental" nature of the software is probably not ideal, because the eventual aim is to have a stable version called "Simutrans-Extended", and Simutrans-Experimental is simply working towards that. Also, are these graphics for the splash screen (in which case, they are pakset specific in any event), or the icon used in Windows and Linux window managers, in which case it will need to be square and very small?

If you make the logo in SVG (Scalable Vectorial Graphics) format, you won't loose quality. That means you may have small and squared (icon version) or big and rounded versions (splash screen version).
