Hello!

Maybe I'm too stupid, but even after many years of ST, there is one big miracle for me: What are the "end of choose" signals for and where do I have to set them? The given infos (ingame help, wiki or via google) are very short und are not helping at all for me.
Actually I'm looking for a way to avoid to set waypoints for every train just passing through stations with choose signals, but they won't me help, right?

Anyway, please make an old man happy and explain in simple words what are they doing and how I have to use them...  :-)

Thx a lot!
Frank

End of choose is rather an exclude from choose sign. Those sign will be in front of platforms, which are too short or are reserved for extra long trains. You almost never need them.

Well, there are cases when you do need them, though I will readily agree with prissi that those are not very frequent. It is used always in combination with the platform choice signal.

Say f ex that you have a station with a great many platforms, where due to geographical and/or schedule constraints it is not possible to keep a specific track/platform physically separated from the rest, but you still want that platform to not be used by any other than a specific line - maybe it is the track that trains passing (and stopping) through the station uses, while the others are loading platforms for trains waiting to be loaded. Then you could add a "end of choose" (or "Exclude from platform choice" as it is called in some paksets/translations) prior to that specific platform. Then only those lines that explicitly have that platform in their schedule may use the platform. Other lines which pass the platform choice signal may not choose this specific platform (but may choose between all others with suitable length at the station in question)

useful when you have 2 levels of platforms that are connected at some point or when you have an express train that runs through the station.

Take a look on this article at the wiki. May be useful.

Hi!

Thank you very much! This really helped.
Finally it's not what I thought, but it will come handy soon! :-)  I'm pretty sure, I will use it quite oftenfrom now on, since it even expands the usuage of the choose signal (which I use quite often).
Also thx for the link, I was looking for an explanation for quite a long time. But naming it in another way explains why I could not find it...

Anyway: Thank you all!
