FPS too low - How to increase it?

While playing Simutrans my FPS is low, almost every time below 20, if I don't move the screen it reaches 25-27, but when I move, it drops to 15 and sometimes 8.

Some people here always complain that every time the game crashes in beginning of month. But on my PC it crashes randomly, then I found something strange, in two times the game crashed I was with the Video options open and in both the month was starting and my FPS was low, first time at 15 and second 10. I think that the game crashes in start of month if the FPS is low.

So I want to know how I can higher the FPS? Cause maybe then it can stop crashing and definitely will stop lagging.

The two greatest impact I've found:

1) smaller game

2) smaller window size

Thanks, I will try reducing the screen and see if still crashes at normal FPS.

seem to improve performance.

Simutrans should not crash at all even with low FPS. Please report your crashes in the bug report section. This increases chances that the crashes will be fixed.

You're right, I tried reducing the screen to get lower FPS here and the bug continues. The big problem is that the bug is too aleatory, I'm trying to find out what can cause it. Sometimes I don't even move the mouse and Simutrans crash. I'll investigate more and any hints I'm gonna post at bug reports.

did you install the newest and greatest graphic driver for your graphic card ? I did this and the performance is much better now.

P.S. I saw your screenshot in the SMSC Poll: November - Stock yards, just awesome. Can you provide a savegame ?

Yes, my graphic cards are up-to-date, the only problem it's a unsupported graphic card for Win7.
But now the problem is OK, no need for help now.

And I can provide a savegame, but you only find a dock between nothing and anything. This screenshot was only a screenschot, the dock is non-functional. Only some parts are functional, the real dock is like 1/10 of the one in screenshot, and don't look anything near the one you saw in SMSC. I only "upgraded" it a "little" to look cool.
