When clicking on the "new map" button in the "options" dialogue, the introductory splash screen is presented instead of the actual "new map" screen, requiring clicking again on "new map" in order to get to the "new map" dialogue.

This is for simplicity, since the function of this button is rather finish current game.

It will be called "New game" instead, anyway, which fits better with "continue game" for loading and "play online". But I appreciate any comments.

Might I suggest that you reconsider this design and revert it to something closer to the original model? The "options" dialogue performs a similar function to that performed by the new game splash screen, in that it has options for "new map", "load game" and "quit". If one is playing a game, and one wants to start a new game, there is now an extra click involved that there did not used to be: the first "new map" (or "new game" as you are considering renaming it) and the second "new map". There is an element of redundancy in this design (although the new introductory dialogue is very good as an introductory dialogue). Just like one can go straight to the load game dialogue, why should one not be able to go straight to the "new map" dialogue from the "options" menu?

The option dialogue is mostly obsolete anyway; some sets, like the pak96.comic replaced it by a toolbar, which is probably the better option. But the new game dialogue might be called directly more sooner, the cleanup of the legacy around those buttons is not finished yet. For instance, there is also a play scenario button missing.
