I would like to know your experience with free translators - what one has the best results - and from what language to what language?

It's not an easy question, the google translator is good for German->English but is so terrible with German->Portuguese that I almost suicide.
For French not sure how the translator are now, but I used a french site that was really good. Guess why.

French contributor as you know, I use a free translator from Free portal (popular provider in France) , which help me to translate one or few words.
I think it is a good tool for you to translate french -> english and conversely
