Simutrans all black, cannot seem to resolve.

Hello, all.  I have been playing simutrans on & off for quite a few years, but this is the first time I have ever needed help to resolve an issue with it.  I have been playing the game without a problem until earlier today. I left for a few moments to get myself a drink, and came back to an almost all black simutrans client window. Before anyone asks, I do not have a screensaver on this computer and it did not turn power-save before I came back. In trying to fix it I have deleted simutrans, clear any and all install caches, re-installed, etc., etc., etc.  I have not been successful in repairing what has happened so now I need your guys/gals help.

To clarify, simutrans stays black throughout anything I do inside of the game regardless of selected pak.  It is very frustrating! I have included two screens to help convey what I may not be describing properly.

I did try a search, however, was unsuccessful in finding anything relevant to my issue. Mainly because I am unsure how to quantify it for the search engine in-forum & google.

Dependig on the version you may have touched the keys for darkenig the screen. Delete default.sve and settings.xml and a restart should fix this.
