Often I have a factory that produces goods for more than one consumer.  It is also the case that often those consumers do not require an equal amount of goods because of things such as distance from the factory.  This doesn't really matter in cases of road transport because I can simply add more trucks.  It gets more difficult with shipping as adding an additional ship is no small matter.

I have managed to handle this situation somewhat by keeping an excess of goods in the factory so that the station divides the goods equally.  At least this appears to be what is happening.  At any rate this seems to be working for small stations but as the station size grows the problem with distribution of unequal quantities grows as well.

Has anyone created an addon that will let you assign percentages to the quantity of goods produced at a factory for each consumer?

Would this be a huge deal to change if I wanted to tackle it in the future?

Since we are not talking about simply creating some addon but changing the code of the game itself... I'd guess, probably quite a huge deal, yes.

Well I guess I can forget about this for now.  Still, from an amateur viewpoint, I find moving people and mail pretty much a matter of dealing with quantity.  It is less interesting than setting up complex "goods" networks.  Actually if I have ten cities, I would like to put supermarkets in all of them and supply each from a single food factory.

As one of my Simutranian citizens from a distant city asked recently, why can't we have a supermarket here in our fair city? :)
