Here are some pics from my latest game. I used a map of japan which I downloaded at the japanese simutrans.

-This what I have done lately. It's still a small city with 5,000+ citizens, it also serves as a transportation hub serving flights to the north, south, south east of Japan. It also has a station that serves a MLX-900(750mp/h), and a central station for monorail that serves 4 cities north of Oxford.

-The second image shows the Oxford Airport. It is connected to the MLX-900 line. It once also had a special tram that connected the city to the airport. It is not the busiest airport. It only welcomes 5 planes per day unlike the busiest airport that has 11 planes flying daily.

-This is what Oxford looks like. It sits beside a mountain to east which makes building railroad very unpractical with the closest city a 12 hour travel with a monorail. The closest city has a very rough terrain because it is built on top a mountain with very limited space thus influencing the use of monorail.

If you also noticed I used the public player to build the airport and some stations. As of today I earn 300,000 per month. I am also upgrading my vehicles specially the planes and monorail. I used ships once but they were to slow. When I stopped using buses, my earnings doubled with the monorail.
Right now I'm planning to remodel my transportation systems and lines because I noticed that growth was concentrated to Oxford only. Oxford has 30 new citizens per month and sometimes it can reach to about 120 new citizens per month.

what do you guys think about it. I know it needs a lot of improvement but im really struggling with designing transpo lines. I'm only good at making central stations.

Start small, a large central station will just be a burden on your finances unless the fares can cover maintenance costs. Use the lowest level station buildings and slowest ways until you actually need better ones.
