Look at this awesome photographs about Trains of Russia (http://englishrussia.com/?p=2081)....The second one is simply incredible!! that convoy has more than 30 wagons!! :o

Longer than the last two ones? If I'm not wrong that convoys have around 40-45 wagons...

The longest train has 682 wagons!!! It was a testtrain for new locos ( 8 pieces! ) in australia.

That was 2001. The track was 275 km. And the train was 7,353 Km long.

If this train had been passengers it would been a long way to toilet and restaurant.  ;D

Last year this topic was on old forum and I browsed youtube a bit as a result; there are videos of many other really long trains - one american spanning the whole horizont, shot from a car; also a few from... Brazil? Oil tankers, also really many. Just go through the "related" lists and see for yourself if the numbers are so exceptional ;)

I think in reality too. This trains are in europe unthinkable

heh, in the australian test-train-video you can see how the cameraman's arm is getting weak after a while :)

I was thinking about the sense of such huge trains, you always need the same energy no matter if you got four normal trains or one huge with four engines. So you only save money for drivers, eh? Since drivers in europe are most probably better paid than in Africa it would even make more sense in Europe.

But since we got rules for everything (here in Germany at least), i guess it just wouldn't be allowed   ;)

Don't you just hate rules :D

At least in Simutrans those rules do not rulez, you know.... ::)
