It was indeed being slow.
Not right now, however, seems to have recovered.
Observation from this minute: Sometimes, responses from the software are quick, but usually not.
The server support was contacted and is working on it.
Investigating...
edit: Server had high load; after reboot and 15min wait, load is minimal. Theory: Something went wonky but reboot fixed for now. :) Please let me know further problems, of course!
edit2: Load is rising. Investigating further.
edit3: Load fell overnight, appears stable.
