Title: Issue: Lack of 'fast' rail track in 1830
Post by: AP on January 04, 2018, 08:10:09 PM
Hi

On the canterbury server, in 1830, we can now buy LMR planet capable of a top speed of 59kph! :-D

Unfortunately we cannot lay track capable of more than 27kph.  :o

I had addressed this recently in the pakset when I undertook a thorough review of all the early railway track, and this is no longer the case; I think that the Canterbury & Whitstable server is using an out of date pakset. The reason for this speed, incidentally, is a source which suggested that this was the actual speed limit on the early Liverpool & Manchester, but I have come to doubt its reliability, as this is not referred to elsewhere, and other accounts of train speeds upon that line in early days seem to contradict it.
