It's done!
Thanks to everyone, specially Frank.

Old post:

:warning: WARNING! :warning: don't get confused with current wiki (TikiWiki) update, see the relevant topic here. This topic is about the ancient wiki (MediaWiki -- this) that was shut down years ago and might have some pages left behind.

Stepping forward!

I'm opening this topic with purpose of helping people who is interested in improving our on-line manuals to port the wiki texts from old wikies to Simutrans-Germany Wiki.

If you have any trouble or need to say something, post in this topic.

Instructions:

1) Open any wiki text of the following old wikies:

http://en.wiki.simutrans.com
http://es.wiki.simutrans.com
http://it.wiki.simutrans.com
http://pt.wiki.simutrans.com
http://fr.wiki.simutrans.com

2) Search for corresponding wiki text on Simutrans-Germany Wiki, on your language:

http://wiki.simutrans-germany.com

3) If:

-- the corresponding wiki text exists: compare both texts and complete Simutrans-Germany Wiki text.

-- the corresponding wiki text does not exist: copy the text from old wiki and create a new wiki text on Simutrans-Germany Wiki with proper format.

4) After you have successfully transferred the text, blank the old page and put a note warning that text was transferred. A sample of a successful port: http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Traffic_congestion_control

-- if you don't have an account on the old wiki, you can ask here for someone to blank the page for you.

5) Post here informing us the pages that were transferred.

- blank the old article and place a notice with a link pointing to corresponding article on Germany Wiki.
I transferred http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Traffic_congestion_control to http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_Traffic_congestion_control as a new article, but I do not have an account on en.wiki.simutrans, so I cannot blank the page...nor add a link

EDIT BY IGOR: blanked pages!

IgorEliezer

I did it by myself. Thank you.

http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Traffic_congestion_control

EDIT:

Frank, I've just signed up for an account. I see there's a Brazilian Portuguese language and Portuguese language. Is it possible to merge both languages? Both are almost the same. It's like "color" and "colour" of the English.

Frank

@Igor

I can disabled the show of pt-br pages. Remove can later.

I have moved http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/SimuTrans_for_Transport_Tycoon_Players to http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_TransportTycoon. I have no edit rights at the English wiki, and ask if anyone can blank the page there.

Note that the tutorial in question has not been updated since 2007, so if anyone feels like polishing it up a bit... that would be most welcome. Please modify  http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_TransportTycoon though, not the page at the English wiki.

EDIT BY IGOR: blanked pages!

Dirk Burkholz

I've set up a notice about the wikis moving at the English MediaWiki start page. All editors should do this for their language wikis, too.

<table border="0" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="2" style="border: 1px solid #FFA4A4; background-color: #FFF3F3; border-left: 5px solid #FF6666; margin-bottom: 0.4em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; width: 80%; font-size: 1.6em;"><tr>
<td style="font-size: 95%; text-align:left;">
Simutrans wikis are moving to a [http://www.simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_Index single wiki]!<br />
You can help [http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=4681.msg46113#msg46113 transferring the contents].
</td>
</tr></table>

I have transferred http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Source_Code to http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_CompilingSimutrans and would appreciate if someone with enwiki account would mark this page as moved.

EDIT BY IGOR: blanked pages!

One more pages transferred:
http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Translation
to: http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_Translation

EDIT BY IGOR: I've blanked the pages. Thank you.

EDIT:I've added some missing parts on Game Options, now it's totally transferred:
http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Game_Options
to: http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-editpage.php?page=en_game_options
Maybe I'll add other thinks, but now there's no need to have it on both wikis.

EDIT BY IGOR: Seems the pages were not transferred totally, so I can't blank the old pages yet.

IgorEliezer

Please someone could kindly transfer the article Creating_addons (http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Creating_addons) to Simutrans Simutrans-Germany TikiWiki (http://wiki.simutrans-germany.com)?

The simutrans.com still points to the old wiki. I think it's interesting to have it in new wiki. (I'm working on simutrans.com update)

Well, I have started: http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_AddonsOverview There are still some images to be uploaded etc. Though I think the page needs reworking to fit into the pages that are alreadly on the tikiwiki...

I have verified that all content on http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Destroy/Remove is included on http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_remover adding what was missing. The en.wiki...-page may be blanked by someone with editing rights there.

EDIT: Likewise with http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Capture; the information is found on http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_take_screenshot. Please blank en.wiki-page.

EDIT 2: Again with http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_FastForward; information stored at http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_FastForward

EDIT 3: (Running out of synonyms *grin*) Yet again with http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Inspection_Tool; info on http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_inspection

EDIT BY IgorEliezer: I've blanked the pages. Thank you.

EDIT 4: All information on http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Finance_dialog that is not already on http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_finances seems to be blatantly wrong... (loans?, in Simutrans? if there where any, it was before my time....)

EDIT BY IgorEliezer: See my post below.
EDIT2 BY IgorEliezer: Blanked.

Thank you Sanna. Good work.

The only parts that might be useful on tikiwiki are:

"financial metrics may be reviewed to allow you to make strategic decisions" and
"Customizable graphs on the dialog allow you to visually look at trends from as far back as 100 years"

The rest can be trashed. :)

EDIT:

The pages that are already transfered:

Noted, and tikiwiki page (slightly) modified, to include the gist of the above - not so sure about the 100 years, feel free to add that tidbit (along with instructions on how to display such a time frame to http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_finances) *smile*

Further: Info on http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Convoy transferred to en_Vehicles_and_Convoys.

EDIT: Info on http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Way_type included (with heavy purging) on http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_Roads_and_Railroads

EDIT2 BY IgorEliezer: Blanked.

Verified that the information from http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Freight_type is included in http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_Goods.

BTW: Adding info to the tikiwiki is easy, but if any of you still feel that this is too much of a hurdle, feel free to add comments on the wiki page(or post them here!) about  errors and crucial (misleading) omissions on the pages.

EDIT 1: Added information from http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Speed_bonus into the Goods list description on http://simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_GoodsList.

Yes, the other pages will write directly in the new tiki :D

IgorEliezer

NOTICE: I've just removed the old Wiki from simutrans.com front page (http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=3434.msg65625#msg65625). This means that visitors will no longer be able to find the old wiki from there.

Please, check out to see if there still are pages that weren't transferred to new wiki. Post the link so people can make the transference.

IgorEliezer

I've just realized some members are transferring the texts from the old French Wiki to the new Wiki. But our site still provides a link pointing to the old wiki (see: http://simutrans.com/help.htm#Tutorials_guides_and_references).

I'd like to know if I can change the link to the new address.

I would say wait a bit.  The French texts on the new wiki are new, and are not taken from the old wiki.  Also the old wiki still has more info.

Edit: PS: I don't know the person who did the French translations on the new wiki.

I would say add the french homepage here (see: http://simutrans.com/links.htm). Italian is also missed.

Oh hi there!

I transferred some stuff from the old English Wiki to the new wiki:

http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Special:RecentChanges

If you have an account in the new wiki (http://wiki.simutrans-germany.com/), you can check the pages that were created or edited by me and make the changes that you feel like it's needed (see recent changes).

The other pages that may need to be transfered can be found here: http://en.wiki.simutrans.com/index.php/Special:AllPages . If you see a "Note: The text was transferred to Simutrans-Germany Wiki", this means that the text is already transferred; or a "Note: Check relevant text in Simutrans-Germany Wiki", this means that the text in the new wiki is better, therefore the text was erased or had been transferred way back before.

Thanks a lot! It's good to know the project is nearing completion, after years :D I never find time for any wiki-related work ::(

My projects... Tools for messing with Simutrans graphics. Graphic archive - templates and some other stuff for painters. Development logs for most recent information on what is going on. And of course pak128!

missingpiece

The converging of all international wiki-type documentation is a great effort. What I really miss though in the wiki-SW that was chosen is a clear path to get to the same page in a different language ( provided it exists ). The languages namespaces appear to be totally separate.

*BUMP*

Is there still any page in the old wiki (http://wiki.simutrans.com) that needs to be transferred to the current one (http://wiki.simutrans-germany.com)? Because, we could kill the old wiki altogether and redirect everything to the current wiki.

wlindley

Nothing under "Create DAT Files" got transferred, all is missing.  All the linked pages are blank:

http://www.simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_dat_Files

Igor, old Wiki shows you also deleted the content from the old Wiki on 9 January, and I can still see the old text under History on the old wiki, but the new wiki says the last modification to those pages was the auto-creation in July 2012.

Please let's not lose those!  There many be many others... why did your edits not get saved in the new wiki?

wlindley

I tried transferring old text into http://www.simutrans-germany.com/wiki/wiki/tiki-index.php?page=en_BuildingsDef but ran into problems.

  • Old wiki has headings like: "====Fourth-level====" which don't work.  Apparently the new wiki has three levels "!" through "!!!" instead... yes?
  • Old wiki has text like: "may also use traction_type[0] to specify..." but the brackets now turn into hyperlinks... how should this be handled?
  • Old wiki has embedded pictures.  The new wiki only seems to let me insert URLs... how to handle?
Furthermore, there was a page which began, "Settings in the DAT files of industries /// The parameters and values are separated by '-'" ...and ended with a chart of MapColors, which I revised about two weeks ago.  That page -- about six printed pages' worth -- has utterly vanished.  It's not even in Google's cache.  Will we have to scour archive.org for backups?

The more I look on the new wiki, the more I find nothing but blank pages.  Have we lost everything?

An_dz

Have you read http://forum.simutrans.com/index.php?topic=11156.0? Or the notice on the registered users page?

Me and Frank are transferring the contents from the old wiki. This takes some time.

No, nothing was lost. Of course there are articles that never were written or never were transferred from the old wiki.

The story is, Frank updated the current wiki to a new version (v.9) and it requires that pages from the previous version (v.5) be ported manually.

We'd better make this port (v.5 -> v.9) first and then transfer the remaining content from the old wiki (Mediawiki) which uses a language which is not supported by the current wiki (TikiWiki); this explains why the "====" didn't work.
