Last days, I was thinking about this: now we have the stone road of 70 km/h, and we have then the asphalt road of 130 km/h.
In Belgium, we have many concrete roads, mostly used on the "N" ways, but even sometimes on the motorway/highway. On the N roads, you drive 90km/h, so, it would be an interesting road:
Speed: 90km/h
Cost: 90¢
Maintenance: 28¢
Intro: I think in the 70's
Expire: for example 2000

It's a road with two concrete plates side by side, with between the plates, both vertical and horizontal, mostly a little bit asphalt to connect the plates.
Last week my grandfather was speaking about the steam tram. They were quite powerful engines driving between the local towns. Later there came petrol trams (Wikipedia says they were cheaper). I think such trams would be a good thing to act between the old horse tram, and the electric trams.
Many old trams can be seen on this (Dutch, since the English version is less complete) Wikipedia page:

Create yourself, you know. But I think there was at least one addon for pak128 for a steam tram.
Well it's more like a request or start of a discussion about it. Or maybe there is somebody who can really draw things like that who doesn't know what to do. The fact is that I can't do more then copy, paste and clone :P
Well, you have some tram graphics at graphics.simutrans.com in case you want some reference material...have a look at TommPa9 gallery
But those are essentially trolleybuses?!?
Are you refering to me or to Paretje, prissi?
