Here we go with the last edition of the Simutrans Monthly Screenshot Contest before Christmas. The November's topic is
Historical & Modern buildings. Show us the mixture between the old architecture and the stylish new buildings of your town.

Lyon - Berges du Rhône
Here is the most attractive quarter of Lyon, a city of 300.000 citizens.
A long time ago, before the facilities you can see in the of this picture, there were only wetlands bording the east shore of this river: Le Rhône. The historical buildings are in the west shore and a few in the east shore.
Later, thanks to the great developpement of the city, the east-south shore was completely refurbished to build the University of Lyon III that you can see in this picture (buildings with red roofs). More, a national research center was build (grey and blue buildings), the whole forming a large university campus. Finally, footpaths were developed along the river so the students can relax between exams.
So this river is the border of two styles, the historical buildings in the west and the new campus in the east.

Chiyoda is located at the very heart of Tokyo.
The central area of the ward is occupied by the Imperial Palace - the main residence of the Emperor of Japan.

The buildings of the Imperial Palace constructed in the Meiji era were constructed of wood. Their design employed traditional Japanese architecture in their exterior appearance while the interiors were an eclectic mixture of Japanese and European elements fashionable in the 19th century.
The Imperial Palace is surrounded by business and administrative areas, such as Kasumigaseki in the south. It is almost exclusively occupied by administrations and agencies housed in modern skyscrapers.

Leipzig was a small working town supporting the surrounding oil and coal industries. Post-war restructuring gave many new modern office and government buildings, although some old historical buildings survived modernisation, such as the railway marketplace, the grammar school, and the large bookshop...
Enkort, i recognised it at the first glance. The moats look quite like it.
