Title: Experimental bridge designs
Post by: Václav on October 17, 2014, 05:39:31 PM
Even if game does not allow bridges constructed from more than four parts (two end parts, middle part and pillar) at this time, I think that it is possible to create bridges with very interesting designs.

All is based on following supposition: if any part of bridge is not defined, then such bridge cannot be built in place where undefined part is needed.

Examples:
1. If bridge has defined only flat ramps, it may be built only between two flat places.
2. If bridge has defined only sloped ramps, it may be built only between two sloped places.
3. If bridge has defined unequal ramps (sloped+flat), it may be built only between one sloped place and one flat place.

And of course, ramps may have different shape (pure, decorated - with overhead pillars or so).

In combination with max_length = 2 (that allows only one middle part between two end parts - or one middle part with one end part), it may be way how to bring very interesting bridge designs to the game. There are many places where such experimental bridges may stand.

Mostly option 1 and 3 may be very interesting options.

And in half-height paksets it may look better than in classic paksets - because transition because middle part and sloped ramps is gentle.

1 and 2 should work with the current bridge builder. Three is impossible, since an up ramp is also a down ramp after rotation.

... after rotation.
Oh no ... I did it again (forgot on rotation of map).
