Title: Hurricane Irma and The Simutrans Servers
Post by: Isaac Eiland-Hall on September 10, 2017, 06:37:33 PM
As I live in Florida, and I'm sure that Hurricane Irma is making news around much of the world right now, I thought I'd add a quick note regarding the Simutrans servers - and my own safety. :)

1. I'm in the Florida Panhandle - the bit that's not the peninsula
2. Currently, Irma is coming up the west side of Florida toward the panhandle
3. Irma is forecast to weaken as she approaches us tonight and tomorrow
4. Irma is also forecast to pass to our east
5. Even if we were to take a direct hit from a major hurricane, the servers are in Atlanta, GA, not local. They're in a datacenter with a good connection to the backbone, which means access from around the world is as good as it can be.

So in short, the forum should be fine. :)

Well, screw the servers, I hope you are holding tight and staying safe over there!
