Title: Plastic roads
Post by: jamespetts on April 26, 2017, 12:11:45 AM
It seems as though a new type of road surface is currently under development using waste plastic to replace much of the bitumen used in asphalt mixes: see here (http://www.britishplastics.co.uk/Environment/cumbria-first-uk-county-to-trial-new-plastic-road/) for details.

Apparently, these new "plastic roads" are currently under trial in Cumbria, and, if successful, are likely to be used more widely. They claim to be more hard-wearing than roads made with only bitumen as a binding agent, although it is not clear whether the initial construction cost is more or less.

If these become successful, I will have to add them to the pakset, although, given that they look the same as existing roads so far as I can tell, it might be difficult to differentiate the graphics.
