i am interested in building half-height viaducts. Is this already possible and how do i build them?

Apologies for not having replied to this sooner: I have been rather preoccupied with moving house recently. I am afraid that you will need to wait for the next version of Simutrans-Experimental and Pak128.Britain-Ex to build half-height structures. Incomplete versions of these are available in source form on Github, however.
The latest code (largely written by Philip) in the way-improvements branch allows the building of half-height viaducts: indeed, this is the default unless there is something underneath them. To build full height viaducts, hold CTRL while placing them.
