Title: Industry increase every x, how does it work?
Post by: Jaridan on September 27, 2012, 03:58:54 AM
As the title suggests, my question:

Does an industry appear when a city (800 pop) reaches: 800+x pop
or when the overall population                                  hits: starting pop+x?

If Industry increase every = x, new industries will be build if a city reaches population = x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, etc.

If x=0 then no new industries will be created.

Is this true for power station too ?

I mean  : when , say, 16x is reached will the game check if power is needed and then build some power generating industry (a solar station for instance) or the two are independant?

First the game checks for new industries, then it decides powerstation or not. There are not two independent choices.

ok thanks !

Then there are a few things we can say (for PAK128 at least):

- the power available on the map is usually lower than the configuration (this is true for PAK128 where many power industry have a very small output)

Since also power industry chains tend to be much smaller than the other (1-4 new industries VS 5-20)   :
- increasing the target power (electric-promille) will reduce the cluttering of the map
- manually building power station will lead to a massive increase of industries being founded

Right ?

Yes.

This is intended (and configurable on per pak-set basis).

Actually, I think this is buggy. The fabrikbauer routine was never updated to respect the new electricity_amount parameter which pak128 is now using. With current numbers, I expect pak128 maps to be populated with ~1/3 the expected amount of electric production. ( 1/9 the demand with the default 330 electric_promille)

TurfIt is right, the routine also neglect that some factories do not need electricity at all. But in pak64 the final ratio was almost the same as before.
