I am recently learning more about planes and I find that they always land at the number 36 and 09 and take off towards the number 27 and 18:

Is it possible to change the direction of runway? I don't want my planes to turn 180 degree from its original flying direction to land.
Thanks :)
I am worried about that my answer will not make you happy: NO. It is not possible. Only one thing you can do is to set runway for only landing and only taking off with using of one-way signs - if they are available.
leong124, I suppose your plane comes from East or North (so that it has to do the 180 degrees turn).
You could turn the runaway 90 degrees, so that the plane only need to turn 90 degrees.
However, this behavior is not unlike real world. E.g. in Milan Malpensa Int'l Airport (MXP), with 2 parallel runaways, every plane takes off towards West and lands coming from East. Thus, planes headed due East just take off towards West and once airborne they turn 180 degrees. This should have to do with head and tail winds, so we can suppose in Simutrans the winds are constant all over the map.
I thought planes always land and take-off into the wind. Does it always blow from the west in Milan? Just like it always blows from the north-east in Simutrans.
You're correct, planes take off into the wind. Runways are generally constructed in the direction of the prevailing wind for the area so that most of the time the planes are taking off in that direction. When the wind shifts, however, the planes will use the opposite direction.
Ok now I understand this. I didn't know about the wind as the reality and I wonder why nobody asked about that before.
Thanks anyway.:)
There is this in the code:
// The wind (i.e. approach direction) is random all over the map (not recommended, since it confuses players)
//#define USE_DIFFERENT_WIND
Not sure if it's currently functional... and if it just confuses players...
