Title: Question: Industry and Station Coverage
Post by: colonyan on December 12, 2012, 05:42:46 AM
Hello. I have a question which I would like it to be clarified.

-1-
To access all potential passenger/mail generation from an industry, all tile of industry must be covered?
In other word, if there is an industry of 2X2 size and half of its tiles are covered by stations around it, only half of potential passenger/mail will spawn?

-2-
If 1 is true, this means when ever a passenger or a mail is generated in city building which goes to an industry, it also has specific destination tile within that industry?
For an example, if there is a factory of 2X2 and it is covered by two stations without there coverages overlapping. Then station A covers East side and B covers West side. Will passenger
choose the station according to the destination tile within the destination industry?

Thank you for taking time to read.

No, industry and tourist attractions are different. If you catch any tile of an industry you covered everything, while tourist attractions needs a coverage of all tiles.

You can see this by switching to the halt coverage by rectangles. As soon as you catch any tile of an industry, tile (0,0) is also marked, even if it is outside the catchent area.

If you like: An industry if often entered by a gate, whilöe you can climb a mountain everywhere or enter a fair at many locations.

So goods are able to travel vertically instantaneously.

What does it mean to "switch to the halt coverage by rectangles"? How do you do it?

It is a display option that you will find in the display option dialog. It is the "show station coverage" option.
